Time for a Coffee

One of the things I love about the Milk Market is that there is always a new supplier or a new product brought by an existing supplier to try out. Last week when I was in the market, there were very few traders in as January is such a quiet month that a lot of them take a well deserved break. However I did finally get to see the infamous pig on a spit that everyone has been talking about. I got to taste the meat too which was delicious, they are from the Adare Farm Shop and are based in the corner near The Edge. They will make up a huge bap for you for €5 with meat cut from the pig, homemade apple sauce, stuffing and or honey dressing. God my mouth is watering even thinking about it!! They also have samples of the sausages they sell in the shop itself, they have three flavours, a cheese flavour, a black pudding flavour and a sundried tomato and basil flavour.

As I was queueing for my sundried tomato and basil sausages (more about them another time), I was asked if I’d like to try some coffee. It being a cold wet miserable day I didn’t take much convincing. The suppliers were Ponaire Coffee based in Murroe. They had two coffee types to chose from, one of which was the cottage blend which which mixes Indian Malabar beans wth Columbian Excelso. It was really rich without being overly strong so just the kind of coffee I like!! The bag was €8.
The bridgestone guide has this to say about it…

“Ponaire belongs in the new generation of coffee roasters who are taking our caffeine consumption to narcotically intoxicating new heights”

You can contact them as follows

BTW: Ice-Cream Ireland has already posted about them, and they have a beautiful picture of the packaging as well (I wish I’d thought of that before I put the coffee into ziplock bags and threw away the packaging!!!)

Nyom coffee! Do they sell ground or just the beans? Sadly I really don’t have the funds to be lashing out €200 on a decent grinder, even though I really want one :(

hi foxy, they sell beans and ground!! I think they are both €8.

Is this the same pig that they’ve had since the very start? I don’t know a whole lot about cooking meat but I didn’t think that it would last as long and the pig is now practically a bare carcass!

why oh why don’t I live in Limerick???????? It’s just so unfair!!

That said I am going to Borough market in London on Saturday week so I shouldn’t complain!!!

Rachel, you’re right, you definitely shouldn’t complain, that sounds fabulous!!

Tive I was wondering about that too. They have been picking away at the same carcass for over 3 months. Every week when I pass it I wonder when will they give up and let the poor animal rest. I mean it must be gone off by now. It has to be a crime against food Hygiene
